What are The Benefits of Five-Toed Socks? A Scoping Review

Background. The use of five-toed socks can be a valid prevention option against interdigital problems and valuable sensory stimulus in walking. However, nowadays, they are hardly ever suggested because often little known or disregarded by clinicians dealing with podiatric problems.
 aim. This scoping review aims to map summarise the literature identify interventions using socks
 Methods. Four databases were searched up December 2022. Studies that considered could included. All contexts considered. No restrictions applied regarding language, study design publication type. Grey reference lists included articles not identified. results presented numerical thematic form.
 Results. Out 23 initially identified studies, only 4 met inclusion criteria for this review. majority randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involved participants different ages, including both sporty non-sporty individuals, who used as part intervention. It is worth noting authors focused solely on conservative interventions, all studies investigating effects wearing more than one week.
 Conclusions. first provide comprehensive overview topic. revealed clear gaps primary research, confirming current management based knowledge socks. may useful general starting point future research.
